- If you would like stems on your cherries, please bring scissors or fine clippers. Ripping the stem from the tree destroys next year's cherries (they will grow from the same spot on the branch).
- Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as we are on a slope, and standing for a long time is harder than it might seem!
- It tends to get very warm, in picking season, so be prepared. Wear a sunhat and drink plenty of water. We have a public water fountain, and bottled water for sale.
- As cherry stains can be persistent, avoid wearing nice clothes.
- We provide buckets for picking, then put the cherries into paper bags. You may bring your own paper bags or boxes, but avoid plastic storage containers, as cherries do not keep well next to plastic.
- We have two clean port-a-potties and a handwashing station, but you may also want to bring your own hand-wipes (cherries can get sticky!).
- The morning is the best time to pick cherries, as the air is still cool and the fruit is firm.
- Parking can be tough on our busier weekends. You may want to park your extra vehicles nearby, and carpool up to our orchard.
- The Leona Valley cherry parade and festival is on one of the first saturdays of June. It usually starts at 10 a.m. During the parade, the roads are closed, and Hobart's cannot be reached until the parade is over and cleared up. We suggest you come before the parade and beat the rush.
